Together with the partners of the EU project Green ASC VET - Metautism, Innoversa Factory had the exciting opportunity to visit SRH University Heidelberg. Under the guidance of Nicole Chaudhuri, the team explored the concept of CORE Future Skills in depth and also toured Prof. Dr. Ulrike Gayh’s impressive laboratories for environmental and process engineering and water technology. In an interactive workshop, the team examined how these essential skills can be defined, taught, and successfully integrated into curricula. The CORE Future Skills include:
- Communication & Collaboration: Empathy, persuasiveness, and multi-collective competence.
- Navigating change: adaptability, tolerance of ambiguity, and perseverance.
- Digital skills: data, media and digital literacy, as well as digital ethics.
- Creativity and critical thinking: solution orientation, reflection and design competence.
In addition to exploring future skills, the team had the opportunity to visit the innovative laboratories of Prof. Dr. Ulrike Gayh. Here, the interplay between environmental and process engineering and cutting-edge approaches such as water technology and sustainability solutions is brought to life in an impressive way. What the EU partners found particularly inspiring about teaching based on the CORE principle at SRH University and at the SRH Vocational Training Centre Neckargemünd:
- Integrating CORE Future Skills into all learning processes—not as separate modules, but as a cross-cutting theme.
- A practical, outcome-oriented approach that motivates students to take responsibility and master complex challenges.
- The combination of theory and practice in interdisciplinary projects, realistic examination formats and reflection tasks.
